System Development - Business Analyst

Overall purpose of this role

Significant contribution to the delivery of IT projects and system enhancements.

Key accountabilities

-Ensuring that the delivered system or enhancement meets the business requirements.

-Delivery of work to agreed timescales and quality criteria.

-Analyses complex operational/business requirements.

-Produces, or contributes to production of, business requirement specifications, functional specifications and system testing specifications.

-Liaises with internal teams, suppliers and other 3rd parties as required.

-Undertakes and documents feasibility studies.

-Analysis, specification and system testing of large, complex or business critical systems, both bespoke and package.

-Performs system testing and assists in user acceptance testing where appropriate.

-Investigates IT production system problems, making recommendations for problem resolution.

-Contributes to the request for information and invitation to tender processes.

-Contributes to process design.

-Contributes to setting of standards, tools and techniques to be used in the production of business requirements, business process designs, functional requirements, RFI's, ITT's and testing specifications.

-May manage projects.

-Assists other members of the Department as appropriate.

Education/Qualifications

Successful educational background with exposure to IT related subjects or relevant work experience.

The work experience you'll need

Mandatory

-Experience of working to business and functional requirements.

-Analysis experience obtained in an IT department.

-Demonstrable experience of a commercial environment.

-Object Oriented Design.

-Data modelling.

-Functional modelling.

-Business process modelling.

Desirable

-UML.

-Project management.

-Experience of Object Oriented practices.

-Data querying.

-Experience of the insurance, retail or retail financial services sectors.
