Your challenge:

As IP Architect you will be responsible for both Core and Edge network design for Airwave’s national network, including the design of custom network solutions & integrations for Airwave’s customers. You will provide IP expertise within a Technical Design Authority team to translate high level functional requirements into IP designs.

You will bring together your experience, dedication and authoritative nature, along with your hands-on development and integration experience to lead on the design and delivery of IP network services against key targets.

Your role:

-You will provide functional and detailed designs on a range of IP data products and services

-You will be responsible for representing Airwave at professional, industry, customer and supplier forums

-You will be the key point of contact for authoritative IP data design, acting as the main liaison between customers and suppliers at both a technical and managerial level

-You will work closely with Airwave’s Commissioning and Integration team to transfer knowledge of your designs in order to agree deployment procedures

-You will support the transition of your designs into service within the production network

-You will ensure all developments on future contractual requirements are completed on budget and schedule,, defining, where appropriate, the budget required for IP solutions

-You will analyse possible new network architectures as required, ensuring that the resulting designs optimise cost, complexity of deployment and ease of support

-You will be responsible for the continuous evolution of the design of Airwave CE IP network, in response to requirements for new products and services, changes to both Airwave and suppliers’ infrastructure, changes to security policies and any necessary improvements to network functionality

-You will work in collaboration with other key functions within the business to undertake the testing of a range of IP data products and services

-You will provide bid support on a range of IP data products and services

-You will provide third-line support for the escalation of technical issues relating to Airwave’s IP infrastructure

About you:

-You will be educated to a degree level in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications and/or have proven experience and equivalent expertise within IP networking systems design

-You will have solid experience of prototyping your designs, and of developing and testing these designs in a pre-production reference environment

-You will have a solid background in communications engineering with a strong, working knowledge of mobile data communications, voice communications and IT systems

-You will have an in-depth knowledge of market-leading vendor systems, Cisco and Juniper in particular and hands on experience of common routing protocols, OSPF, BGP, etc and MPLS.

-You will have a high level of competence of routing and switching, firewalls and security, data protocols, data system level design, data systems integration

-You will have excellent communication and presentation skills

-You will be a highly creative thinker with the ability to provide innovative and superior technical solutions within tight time scales and budgets
