With a broad remit and a host of interesting projects to manage, you’ll be instrumental to some exciting developments across the organisation.

At the Rural Payments Agency, there’s a lot more going on than you might realise. We pay farmers, traders and land owners over £2 billion each year to support a thriving farming and food sector. We also manage over 40 schemes to help ensure our rural economy and communities are healthy and strong. From carrying out thousands of inspections and checks to managing milk quotas and cattle tracing, we’re one of the few places in the country where you can get involved in work like this.

Working across the entire Information & Technology directorate, you’ll manage and coordinate diverse projects delivering live services into I&T. Focusing particularly on new services resulting from the EU’s revised Common Agricultural Policy, you’ll support our effective response to this important legislation, which will have a far-reaching impact.

Managing the Technical Transition Team and Technical Project Management Office, you’ll do all you can to make the implementation of our IT strategy and organisational design as smooth and successful as possible. From managing and coordinating the resource plan and release schedule, to consulting on I&T resource requests, you’ll be a highly visible and impactful presence.

A talented leader, you always see the big picture. You combine excellent decision making skills with a flair for communication and collaboration. Crucially, you are equally adept at managing (and planning) projects, people and quality services. Understanding of our Prince 2 based governance process will also be key to your success.

In return for your dedication, you’ll enjoy lots of opportunities to train and develop. You’ll also be in line for some great civil service benefits, including a pension.
