About the role

As the Portfolio Risk Engineer you will provide support to deliver an efficient and effective risk management service to project and programme teams within Capital Delivery.

The key accountabilities of the role include:

- Ensure that risk management on projects and programmes comply with the requirements of the risk management process

- Facilitate the identification and analysis of risks on projects at key stages within the project life cycle

- Undertake qualitative and quantitative risk assessment workshops (cost and schedule), producing key outputs, as well as recommending appropriate levels of risk are included within project forecasts

- Ensure that projects have a risk register, the risks are up to date, that they are regularly reviewed and that appropriate mitigation action plans are put in place and acted upon

- Provide regular reports to project teams on the risk status of their projects

- Advise projects on appropriate management of contingency and ensure that risk information is utilised effectively in driving value for money and efficiency improvements

- Set up and maintain the systems and interfaces to enable the operation of the risk management tool at the portfolio level used in Capital Delivery

- Drive through solutions to ensure specific risks are being managed

- Promote a risk culture in the organisation and provide support, education and training to staff at all levels

- Support the improvement of the risk management process towards 'best practice' project and programme risk and contingency management

About you

You will have a sound knowledge in all aspects of project and programme risk management facilitation and be able to build cost and schedule risk models and Primavera Risk Analysis. An understanding of project and programme management methodologies and tools is required.

With a proven track record operating industry standard risk tools e.g. ARM, PREDICT and managing contingency. You will also be a competent user of a number of IT tools including Microsoft Office package.

Good people management and communication skills at all levels both internally and externally are essential.

You will need to have a Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) Business or Construction Management or the equivalent training & experience. It would be desirable if you held Membership of an appropriate professional body e.g. IRM, APM.
