The role

With a diverse range of sites all over the UK, first-class property management is crucial here at the Met Office. The Property Management team ensures that our £multi-million property assets are developed, maintained and managed effectively. They play a key role in our world-renowned success and have been nationally recognised as one of the top 10% of high performing teams within the UK Civil Service.

Your important role in this talented team will focus on the delivery of a variety of property-related projects - ranging from office refurbishments and moves to new site installations. Organised, enthusiastic and commercially aware, you’ll oversee the full project lifecycle, monitoring resources and managing the project team to ensure that delivery is on time, on budget and to the highest standards. Building strong working relationships with both customers and project teams, you’ll make sure that deliverables are clarified, understood and achieved and that stakeholders are kept well-informed of any issues. To say that no two days will be the same would be an understatement: every day will bring variety and challenge. Whether you’re planning, monitoring requirements, identifying risk or directing contractors, you’ll do it with care and efficiency. This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver business change and see your work realised into tangible solutions as you grow and develop in a world-class organisation.

The person

In order to be considered for this role, you’ll need to meet the following essential criteria:

1. Experience of managing medium risk commercial property projects at the Project Manager Level.

2. Evidence of having successfully managed and motivated a project team in an engaging manner, resulting in efficient project implementation, good teamwork and effective conflict resolution.

3. Proven ability to develop networks and build working relationships at all levels, within the Met Office and with external organisations, to enable issues to be resolved.

4. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to obtain an understanding of technically complex matters and communicate them in a clear and concise manner.

5. A proven track record of delivering projects on time, on budget and to customers’ requirements, ideally with experience of managing several medium-risk projects from stat to finish.

6. Must be a current Prince 2 Practitioner or holder of APMP (Level D) qualification.

7. Must be able to handle multiple demands and shifting priorities, including those relating to project risks and issues.

8. A full UK driving licence.

If you’ve any of the following desirable criteria, that is even better:

1. Demonstrate a positive, confident attitude and good team leadership skills.

2. A proven ability to deliver continuous process improvement through using and sharing lessons learned.

3. Experience dealing with construction health and safety issues within a project

4. A proven ability to manage contracts including large scale procurements.
