ORC International is a leading research company, with 430 staff across 14 worldwide locations, and our UK head office located at the heart of London’s silicon roundabout.

The Technology Solutions team specialises in the development of large bespoke online and off-line reporting solutions in support of research conducted for our clients. We work directly with some of the biggest high street names in many sectors such as John Lewis, Tesco and Hewlett Packard, making this role not only challenging but also very interesting!

About the role

ORC recognises the importance of technology in our market and is undertaking significant investment in a program that will provide a framework for us to deliver world class research technology to our clients. This will include all parts of our business and will let clients view and interrogate research information together with data from many sources.

The design and acceptance of these applications is in the hands of the company’s leaders in our research specialisms. While they are experts in their field, they are not all experienced in software development and have many other priorities. This role will work alongside our research experts, helping guide and manage the development of new applications.

Specifically, the candidate is likely to be involved in the capture of business requirement and development of a Functional Specification for our development teams. There are likely to be clarifications and changes during development and then a major part of the role will be in the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) ensuring that the delivered applications matches the requirement. There is likely to also be some involvement in the deployment of the application across the business.

The successful candidate will ideally have a background in data analysis / programming / development, with a passion for technology and research. Knowledge of Market Research will be a benefit.

Key Tasks

-Assist users (or clients) define user requirement

-Help document requirements through working with designers to create wireframes and writing Functional Specification

-Assist Development team when queries arise

-Build and agree test plans for applications

-Lead UAT testing and work with Developers to apply fixes and changes

-Assist in deployment of applications across the business

Key Skills/Qualifications

-Minimum 3+ years’ (ideally 5+) experience in a related position

-Numerate degree with good academic qualifications

-Good knowledge of project management tools and process (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP)

-Attention to detail and high capability to work on different projects in parallel

-Previous experience in data analysis ·

-Excellent oral and written communication skills
