The Role

Working collaboratively to boost skills, employment opportunities on major construction projects, and operating regionally within Scotland, you will play a key role in ensuring that the major projects in your area will have the construction talent it needs. We’ll look to you to work with a range of partners to provide business, employment and skills opportunities in construction, including apprenticeships, social initiatives, work experience and meet the buyer events. You will identify gaps in skills and provision for major projects and develop interventions to fill these gaps, including writing business cases and applications for funding. This vital stakeholder-facing role will give you the chance to make a difference as you gather intelligence on the ever-changing skills landscape.

The Requirements

You’ll come to us with a proven track record of delivering projects preferably in a construction environment together with a sound understanding of national and local government skills programmes and their funding mechanisms. Ideally degree qualified with Prince 2 Foundation or equivalent, you will bring knowledge of construction education, skills, procurement. A full driving licence and the ability to travel will be essential. Skilled in building relationships with stakeholders, including other sector skills councils, contractors, and local and national government, you will be committed to delivering community benefits through collaborative working.
