The role
In this important role as an IT Support Analyst, you’ll provide high quality IT support and development for a range of our key IT services. Working in either the Forecasting Applications Support Team (FAST) or the Internet Applications team, your day-to-day responsibilities will be full of variety and interesting challenges. You’ll troubleshoot and investigate issues, identify route causes and find effective solutions to reported problems, delivering an excellent customer experience at all times. Collaboration will be central to this role and we’ll look to you to work with other support teams to transition services into operation, with minimal customer impact. You’ll provide advice on service development and also assist colleagues with content for the internal Met Office site. The person
In order to be considered for this role, you’ll need to have the following essential criteria:
1. A qualification in computer science, computing or other numerate subject, or equivalent experience.
2. Ability in problem solving and an organised and structured approach to work.
3. Ability to grasp fresh concepts and implement efficient, effective solutions in a timely manner.
4. Previous experience of programming or willingness to learn.
5. Ability to participate in a team environment but also to be able to work independently on allocated tasks.
6. Enthusiasm for providing a professional, high-quality service.
7. Good written and oral communication skills.
If you’ve any of the following desirable criteria, even better:
1. Some work experience in an IT Support environment.
2. Experience of developing macros in MS Office applications such as Word and Excel.
3. Knowledge of web and mobile technology.
4. Knowledge of ITIL procedures used within the Met Office.
