About the Team

We provide 24/7 third line support for Mobile and Online Data Services. Our Teams will have end to end troubleshooting responsibility of the Mobile Data - including Packet core, IP Core and DAB. DAB is a complex environment that provides Shielding (18+/- filtering), traffic Optimisation, Billing, Security and traffic shaping for Mobile data users.

Similarly we are delivering a similar solution to provide Mobile connectivity and manage circa 23 million Smart Meters, being deployed in homes across the country.

Ultimately, we are the operational custodians of the Mobile Data network, ensuring the infrastructure is maintained and the Mobile Data Services is always available 24/7, 365 days a year.

Your Role

To Manage a number of Specialist Teams within the Mobile Data Services on 24/7 basis - Including Telco Packet Core, IP Core, and various Applications and platforms from multiple venders, which provide the connectivity and features our Mobile Data customers enjoy.

During Major incidents, you’ll become an escalation point - both in and out of hours. Responsible to ensure restoration plans are quickly formulated, as well as being able to communicate the impact and restoration plan to all levels (From CTO to Engineer "on the coal face").

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide cost effective 24hr by 365 days a year, a Third line support function for all Mobile Data ServicesAccept new complex IT and Telco based solutions to provide Mobile data network connectivity and access to those Mobile data features offered to our customersVirtually matrix manage large multi facet teams to deliver a varying number of key programsMotivate the teams to respond to major system problems, and manage effective resolution or temporary expedient, and drive through RCA (Root Cause Analysis) investigationsImplement and maintain ongoing build programmes for the Smart Metering infrastructure - including administration, patching of production and non-production databases, platform upgrades, tuning, optimization, backups and resource managementTake ownership of the Technical Review / Operational meetings with other Telefónica UK departments and Key strategic Business partnersIncrease management capability within the S&A team by delegating tasks and responsibilities for others development, and investing time mentoring and coaching to support theseControl and manage reduction of Mobile Data Services costs, by identifying unique ways to take the business forward, defying conventional wisdom and breaking the mould of what is possible

Key Skills and Experiences Required

The role will require a strong minded professional, with a flair for thinking outside the box when problem solving. To be successful you’ll need:

Extensive mobile experience and working knowledge of mobile networks, either in an operator or supplier environmentStrong and effective people management experienceExperience of managing complex IT solutions, consisting of multiple platforms/ Applications from multiple vendors. Excellent influencing and communication skills - to both Technical and Managerial stakeholdersHas a good understanding of ITIL or similar service management methodologies Demonstrate an ability to take personal risks to initiate innovative processes that produce a step change in business performanceBe highly motivated, open minded and willing to seize opportunities - and encourage and develop the same within your teamA level of flexibility with regards travel, and working out of hours at short notice
