Reporting to: Senior IT Manager - Support

Summary of role:

- Provide IT support to all staff in Thomas’s schools in all aspects of IT and ICT so that they are able to perform their roles in teaching and administration.

- Provide cover for other IT Support Specialists.

- Provide telephone IT support and manage the IT Service Desk in the absence of the help desk administrator.

Hours of work:

- Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

- Some work outside of these hours will be expected

Key roles and responsibilities:

- Provide IT support to all teaching and administration staff

- Log all IT support requests into the IT support helpdesk system and ensure that requests for support are met and responded to in an efficient and effective manner

- Proactively monitor and prioritise tickets in the IT support helpdesk system, escalating to 3rd line support where appropriate

- Run through regular checklists in order to proactively prevent regular or common faults

- Ensure basic stock levels are maintained

- Install new and updated hardware and software

- Remain contactable via phone during normal work hours

- Maintain confidentiality at all times with sensitive data stored on the Thomas’s IT systems

- Undertake internal or external training provided by the school where appropriate and take responsibility for their own self-improvement

- Assist in major upgrades and changes to all aspects of the IT / ICT environment during school holiday periods to ensure that projects get completed on time with the minimum of disruption

- Perform any other tasks as set out to do by the Senior IT Managers

Generic duties and responsibilities:

- To work in a manner which is safe and healthy for both yourself and others with whom you come into contact

- To comply with safety instructions and regulations

- To promptly report all safety hazards and unsafe working practices

- To be familiar with the schools’ Health and Safety Policy and comply with it at all times

- To read and be familiar with the Staff handbook and Employment manual and follow the procedures therein

- To be familiar with and to follow guidelines as set out in the school staff policy documents

- To work in a co-operative, diplomatic and flexible manner

- To foster and maintain good working relationships, acting as a courteous, friendly and business-like member of the school team.

This role falls within the category of regulated activity, therefore you will be required to have an enhanced DBS check and a barred list check. Should you receive any cautions or convictions whilst in our employment these must be reported immediately to your line manager.
