Senior Telecom Engineer

Salary: €80,000

Location: Berlin, Germany

Our client is an International Law firm with offices worldwide.

Position Summary:

The Senior Telecom Engineer will provide the Firm with expertise in operational support and implementation of our Telecom Infrastructure. Provide input to the overall IT design supporting the business objectives globally, while optimizing spends and the technology infrastructure life cycle.

Responsible for the alignment and integration of the global Telephony infrastructure (various platforms, adjacent communication services such as voicemail, instant messaging, presence, video etc.) and methods into the complete Firm technology portfolio, in particular around the Collaboration, Applications, and Desktop Infrastructure.

Working with and guiding GTS teams towards a uniform best practice approach for operational excellence and implementation. Perform any other duties as required by the Firm.

Duties and Accountabilities:

                                         Provide technical leadership, direction and guidance in the respective areas of responsibility

                                         Conduct daily maintenance and provide operational support to ticket incidents with proper communication, documentation and escalation as required

                                         Ensure all telephony Infrastructure components are appropriately managed, resilient, documented and are in line with industry best practices

                                         Lead and participate in Firm projects and initiatives, with a focus on Telecom technologies and provide documentation as required in support of end user usability

                                         Participate in Firm-wide planning activities

                                         Participate in the review and optimization of expenditures and contracts

                                         Actively monitor new and emerging Telecom-related technologies, trends, issues and solutions

Major areas of responsibility are:

Implement, Manage and Maintain:

                                         Cisco Unified Communications Manager

                                         Cisco Unity

                                         Cisco Presence/Jabber

                                         Cisco UCS platforms

                                         Cisco end point units and other mobility services

                                         Other integrated communication & video technology

                                         Monitoring using standard and specialized tools (e.g. SNMP)

Additional Responsibilities:

                                         Maintain the practice of continuous improvement and education

                                         Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing relevant professional publications.

                                         Comfortably interact with all levels of the partnership and staff.

                                         Provide after-hours operational support for escalations as required

Qualifications:

                                         BS in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant work experience

                                         5+ years’ experience working for a medium to large geographically dispersed enterprise

                                         Experience in the operation and implementation of technologies in a virtualized Microsoft and Cisco dominated environment, preferably at a medium to large size organization

                                         Ability to work in teams of highly skilled technical professionals

                                         Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal

                                         Strong presentation and interpersonal skills

                                         Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

                                         Strong analytical skills

                                         Capable of grasping new concepts without prior experience

                                         Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible and creative

                                         Ability to travel or work overtime, as needed
