Technical Project Manager

Contractor Position

Albert Dock Liverpool

Yodel are looking to appoint a Technical Project manager on a contract basis. The Technical Project Manager will to lead infrastructure delivery projects ensuring they are delivered on time, to agreed scope, and to budget.

Key Responsibilities:

- Takes an active role together with other technical staff and specialised IT management in IT policy making, both in software and hardware procurement.

- Take on the role of Project Manager for small to medium projects, managing the issues, risks, plans, budget, scope, and benefits.

- Ensure all changes made adhere to service management standards, including change control, and transition to service.

- For any fully managed projects take on the role of IT lead and co-ordinate activities across all IT practices.

- Pull together relevant guides/training material to assist the business with on-boarding change brought about through IT.

- Communicates effectively on all aspects of work and with all levels of management, peers, and colleagues.

- Has a good understanding of infrastructure policies, environments, and technical solutions.

- Ensures that full and comprehensive documentation is produced and maintained.

- Identifies and manages problems arising during the testing and implementation.

- Provide Input to support the creation of appropriate standards, methods and tools and ensures that they are applied in an intelligent and effective way in order to achieve well-engineered products.

- Consistently produces work of a high standard, and ensures team members adhere to high standards.

- Provides advice, guidance and assistance to less experienced colleagues as required.

- Manages and reports progress against plans within their own area of responsibility.

- Takes an active part in meetings with clients/users/IT staff during investigations and throughout subsequent changes/implementations.

- Provides support to resolve production issues which may involve out of hours working by overtime, call out or standby.

- Provides input in the assessment and selection of new IT solutions.

- Provides input into performance of staff, reports on their effectiveness.

- Provides mentoring and coaching to other members of the team.

- Identify & Implement improved infrastructure & support processes.

Essential experience required:

- Prince II or equivalent desired

- Good Written & Oral communication.

- Is proficient at project management, following Prince II principles.

- Has comprehensive current knowledge of IT, and IT standards, applications and trends.

- Can effectively facilitate the analysis of solution requirements through the use of workshops or similar meetings.

- Is capable of undertaking complex, business change programs, delivering the IT infrastructure components.

- Has a wide knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure (solutions &processes)
