Project Manager - Postponement

The company develops and manufactures a wide range of high-quality medical products which are supplied to a global customer base. Part of an international group with c5,500 employees and sales approaching $2bn, it is now embarking upon a postponement project - delaying investment into the completion of manufacturing product until demand is confirmed - and is seeking a skilled and experienced project-management professional for this newly-created position.

Challenge

- To lead the Postponement project from a conceptual stage to a realistic plan and through to successful implementation, delivering significant commercial benefits.

- To manage all aspects of the project and to coordinate numerous cross-functional teams.

- To enjoy significant interaction across all departments including Order management, Planning, Inventory Control, Engineering, Manufacturing and Distribution, liaising particularly closely with the Head of Process Excellence.

- To manage the introduction of late deferral principles whilst being prepared to challenge the status quo and the ways in which the company operates.

- To establish and maintain effective communication within the operations team, management and wider team to ensure clarity of project status.

- To develop/identify and implement the project-management process and associated tools to manage the project portfolio, resource capacity and budget.

Candidate

- You should have strong experience of managing projects within demanding manufacturing or engineering environments.

- Your background must include the application of lean manufacturing methodologies which have led to significant process improvements, increased revenue and/or cost savings.

- With previous experience of a Postponement/Late Deferral project, you should have excellent Change Management skills.

- Ideally degree-qualified and supported with a lean and/or 6-Sigma qualification, a background in a regulated industry - medical devices, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, food & beverage, automotive - would be highly preferable.

- You should have first-class communication skills which enable you to build effective working relationships across all functions and from shop floor to senior management.
