PRIMARY OBJECTIVES & FUNCTIONS:

To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience of developing and working with a project management plan and ensuring all project controls and plans are carried out in accordance with recognized project management practices. You will be expected to demonstrate technical expertise, providing in depth knowledge of multi-disciplinary projects and liaising across a wide range of stakeholders.

Other duties will include:

- Using practical management and engineering knowledge to perform high value consulting roles

- Developing, maintaining and monitoring programmes for scheduling and reporting on deliverables across the projects

- Maximising profitability of design work packages and monitoring against budget

- Identifying risks and opportunities and then acting upon those

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role is made available for a suitably experienced person who will be aligned alongside the client account in order to realise the growth of refurbishment and construction projects within the Health and / or Prison Sectors.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the leadership of capital construction projects up to approximately £10M across the clients existing Hospital and Prison estate. The role will include the delivery of secured work and developing the client relationship to secure further work in line with the client’s estate plan to transform and expand the existing establishments. Works to the estates will include new builds, extensions to the existing building, refit and refurbishment and external works and civil engineering.

Responsibilities:

- Ensure that all employees directly under their charge are aware of their responsibilities with regard to the Health & Safety, Environmental, Sustainability and IMS policies and their obligations

- Ensure that all health, safety and environmental incidents and complaints are reported and investigated

- Provide leadership and support for all team members under their control

- Provide Line Management for all team members under their control

- Lead and drive all aspects of the project during each stage / phase of the project

- Identify resource requirements for each stage of the project

- Identify training requirements for staff

- Assign sufficient and adequate resources to the project

- Ensure compliance with the month end process from all team members under their control

- Management of the expectations of the internal and external customer

- Ensure Risk and Opportunities registers are in place on every project with clear management Plan

ESSENTIAL

- Alignment to the customer to identify opportunities and manage that opportunity through the entire project lifecycle

- Assisting and leading negotiated and competitive tenders

- Reviews each project budget from budgeted cost to complete v actual

- Reviews the project, reporting and all delivery aspects

- Reviews the performance dashboard per project and continuous improvement measures

- Reviews commercial change in design scope through commercial function

- Technical Consultant for the solutions

- Manage the projects’ cost accounts

DESIRABLE

You will be a degree qualified (or under training agreement) Civil Engineer and 4+ years' experience in commercial, infrastructure or industrial projects. Previous experience working for a consultant in a wide-ranging, client facing design role, or a contractor in a design/build management role with good knowledge of construction processes, CDM control, steelwork fabrication, and supplier/sub-contractor co-ordination may be appropriate. Both people management & communication abilities are a must, along with a strong IT interest with specific abilities in Excel and MS Project. The position demands a strong technical bias as the person become the focal point for technical advice to Clients and suppliers for our range of services. Overseas experience as well as work or even previous background with Military/Police Clients would be beneficial. The successful applicant will be responsible for operations and timely delivery of the projects. You will be responsible for the construction management with an overview of the project from conception to completion. You will be in regular communication with consultants, contractors and the management team throughout all stages of the project. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed within allocated budgets and be involved in decision making for the same whilst ensuring that all quality standards and regulations are adhered, implementing your creative strategies to streamline and improve existing processes. In addition you will be actively involved in certain business development activities, client presentations, and technical bid proposal writing.
