The IT Services Department has a specialist programme delivery unit, whose role is to ensure that the IT solutions delivered into force, meet both the utility and warranty expectations of its stakeholders.

We have opportunities to work as an IT Project Manager specifically to provide project management and co-ordination to IT projects that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of staff and officers in both Kent Police and Essex Police.

This is a demanding role, therefore Kent Police and Essex Police require resilient and professional IT Project Managers, with experience of delivering IT systems, preferably a broad working knowledge of information technology and the challenges of its delivery, as well as excellent skills levels in:

- IT system project planning and management;

- communication (Written and Verbal) and an ability to build relationships, you will be required to report to project boards and liaise closely with the lead Chief Officer;

- budget management;

- benefits management;

- stakeholder management;

- leadership, team management and motivation,

- project assurance

Are we looking for you?

You will be a highly motivated self-starting professional IT Project Manager with significant experience in delivering line of business and infrastructure projects, from business case through organisational readiness into live service.

You will have significant experience of working in a matrix management environment, tasking and co-ordinating personnel from various teams to deliver IT projects.

You will understand and have experience in the use of project controls, project health checks as well as proven risk and budget management skills.

You will be a planner, looking ahead to identify what activities need to be completed and reflecting on the ‘what ifs’ in order to anticipate possible scenarios (risks) that may affect successful delivery and be able to initiate conversations and set-up mitigation plans.

Your stakeholder management skills will be well developed along with excellent verbal and written communication, as well as the ability to constructively approach ‘difficult conversations’ and a strong problem solving ability.
