BT is a global innovations company, with customers in over 170 countries. As the UK’s number one tech sector investor in research and development, we use the power of communications to make a better world - from TV, broadband and mobile, to technology that keeps people safe and healthy.

Taking on great responsibility, you’ll enjoy so much scope to shape our industry and bring the next big ideas to life. At the forefront of innovation, you can build a truly global career.

What does it involve?

Network Engineering involves designing solutions to enable communications across the UK and the entire world. That means gathering and analysing requirements, developing high level solutions, selecting network equipment, configuring a wide range of devices, and then testing.

Working alongside specialists in communications, electronics and information technology, you’ll carry out a range of development and integration services. Your role could either focus on applied research, or on the technical aspects of IT and communications engineering projects.

So what do I need?

An innovative and commercially astute individual, you embrace change. Putting customers first, you take responsibility for delivering improvement and results in all you do. Crucially, you enjoy building relationships and working with others. And you’re passionate about learning new skills.

As well as having a technical mind-set and good problem solving skills, you’ll need strong judgement and an analytical approach to your work. You’ll need to have or expect either 2.1 degree with 280 UCAS points OR 2.2 degree with either 340 UCAS points or additional post grad degree

In addition, you should have a good working knowledge of IP networks, protocols and network components, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to customers. Strong design and development skills are also crucial.
