This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner to shape the content of Transport for London’s customer information.

Providing a strategic link between operational planning and marketing and communications, you will work with transport modelling and analytics teams and emerging big data sets to deliver better journey solutions to customers during periods of planned travel disruption. To date TDM has played a key role in a range of high profile events, including the Tour de France, the Rugby World Cup and the redevelopment of London Bridge.

You will use your understanding of transport operations, in particular on the rail and underground network, to drive the development of cutting edge research projects, including the provision of real time travel information and customer behaviour analysis. Collaboration with teams across TFL and partners in the wider transport industry will be vital to ensuring success.

You will have significant knowledge of transport planning, including travel behaviour change programmes and techniques. Knowledge of the operational planning processes required of a large multi-modal transport provider is essential. You should have an understanding of TfL’s customer strategy, the vision and objectives of the business, and its position within London. Knowledge of behavioural analytics and customer strategy development is desirable.

The skills that you’ll possess as an experienced Transport Planner will enable you to quickly grasp the key transport issues relating to any TDM project. A self-starter with the ability to work effectively as part of a team, you will demonstrate innovative thinking and outstanding problem solving skills. Excellent communication skills for a variety of audiences are essential, as is the flexibility to adapt within a demanding and fast-changing environment.

Significant experience of specifying and interpreting technical transport deliverables including modelling outputs, performance data, and service plans is essential. You will be able to balance the needs of a number of key stakeholder groups, and have experience of tailoring communications for different audiences, taking into consideration appropriate channel strategies. Demonstrable experience of delivering results through drive, collaboration and influence is required.

Excellent benefits include:

- 30 days holiday plus public and bank holidays

- Final salary pension scheme

- Free Tube travel and travel concessions including discounted Eurostar travel

- Performance related pay

- Private medical benefit
