Sharing expertise. Providing leadership.
Enjoy both at the Government Internal Audit Agency.
On the 1st April 2015, the Government Internal Audit Agency was established as an Executive Agency of the HM Treasury. We act as a specialist provider of internal audit services to the government, as well as supporting the European Commission with assurance services. We will eventually integrate the majority of central government internal audit teams, so it’s an exciting time to join. As a Senior Internal Audit Manager - Programme & Project Management, you’ll be integral to making sure this new initiative is a success.
This is a role that will see you reviewing and providing insightful guidance to some of the largest, most exciting, complex projects across the government - from major energy projects to shared services. Whilst leading a programme of specialist audit/assurance engagements, you’ll work with managers to gain a better understanding of the potential risks and commercial exposure. It means at times you’ll have to negotiate and challenge on audit findings, using your experience to provide evidence. In addition you’ll attend audit committees, produce assignments and annual reports, liaise with external parties such as the NAO and generally use your specialist knowledge to ensure we provide a service that’s second-to-none. As you’ll manage a small team, it will also be your responsibility to see they deliver against your exacting standards, inspiring, developing and motivating them to do better.
Evidently, you’ll need an impressive track record of delivering and / or assuring major programmes and projects across either the public or private sector. We’ll also expect you to have a relevant qualification such PRINCE2 as you’ll need to explain in your application how this relates to this role. You’ll also need demonstrable experience of influencing outcomes at the highest levels and evidence of delivering best practice. Naturally this means your negotiation, communication and relationship skills, collaborative-working ability and sector knowledge are second-to-none.
