Through a strategy of enablement, the Information Services (IS) department ensures the Force has the technology and tools required to support the delivery of a high-quality policing service to everyone in Derbyshire.

The department are looking for an experienced and dynamic Technical Support Manager. With a proven track record of running a day to day IS Technical Support Team and of working within Service Level Agreements within a Service Managed Environment, you will be educated to degree level or have equivalent work related experience. You will also hold a recognised qualification in customer service management (ITIL Foundation Level) or comparable work experience.

The Technical Support Manager is responsible for ensuring desktop, laptop and mobility service provision meets organisational need , and that all service requests are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner and to manage the operational day to day activities that support service levels. You will provide the role of ITIL Incident Manager and handle major incidents or appoint a deputy for absences. A proactive manager, you will report on incidents that should be handled by the change management process and ensure that configuration management procedures are observed by the team.

A flexible individual, you will provide and manage out of hours support to meet required service levels and will manage, develop and performance monitor all team members.

You will have significant experience of negotiating contracts and service levels with vendors and a comprehensive understanding of managing capital and revenue budgets. As an enthusiastic leader, you will be confident in managing a Windows based desktop environment and be able to demonstrate experience and understanding, managing and documenting the licensing of software and hardware, particularly Microsoft.
