Exciting new opportunity for experienced Project Manager with life science training.

This is an excellent opportunity for Project Managers to join our Programme Management Office at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. Successful candidates will manage a number of new and exciting cross functional projects (including but not limited to Operations, Regulatory, Faculty, Legal, HR, Finance, Procurement and IT ) to deliver science and technology programmes up to £10m. They will be responsible for their successful planning, managing, reporting and delivery.

All projects support the Institute’s mission to remain a world leader in genomics. This is an exciting opportunity for high calibre experienced Project Managers looking to influence the development of our PMO and how the institute remains internationally competitive.

Essential Skills

We’re interested in hearing from you if you have experience in:

- Project Management

- Life Science (PhD preferred)

- Project life cycle management

- Planning and co-ordinating inter-related projects

- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders

- Risk and Change Management

- Managing sub-contractors

- Facilities Management

All candidates must have formal training in life sciences. Formal qualifications in Project Management are not necessary for candidates with a strong track record in project delivery.

Ideal Skills

This experience would ideally include:

- preparing project plans and associated budgets

- Communication of progress and identification of risks to key stakeholders.

- Identifying and documenting lessons learned.

- Maintain awareness of best practices for project management

- Champion project management within the Institute

- Undertake training a required to maintain awareness of best practices

The Sanger Institute is a charitably funded research centre that applies the power of genomics to uncover the basis of genetic and infectious disease.
