Operating within our IT area, Payment Systems is responsible for all our cards & payments software development, support and delivery. This is a rapidly changing and dynamic technical environment with robust programmes in place to keep pace with the change whilst simultaneously increasing capability across the function for our colleagues and partners.

We are looking for a Technical Lead to work on a number of critical payments systems with technical leadership skills - you will work collaboratively with business, architectural & design and technical teams to produce feasible design solutions. Further to that you will oversee the workload of 5 SMEs working on a variety projects which use these critical applications.

Your current expertise coupled with knowledge of the platform will allow you to confidently own application roadmaps, review project documentation and provide support for development and testing of middleware applications. Good organisational ability will help you to assist in work estimation using work breakdown structures as well as providing regular status reports to the leads and management teams. A communicator and people person you will also work with the bank's partners and third party vendors to implement newer application versions.

This role is for you if you are a specialist in one or more of the below.

- Unix

- Oracle

Ideally, you would also have some knowledge of the below.

- Java

- IBM Websphere Application Server

- IBM Websphere Message Queue

- Rational Architect

In addition, you have experience of working in payments, the end to end software development lifecycle, and providing live support.
