About the role

We are looking for Broadcast IT Specialist, they will be a senior member of small team to:

Continuously develop and improve performance of our internal network that manages the movement of very large files, petabytes of storage and associated metadata.

Bridge the gap between legacy SDI and IP through mass tape library digitization whilst being maintaining and developing the legacy SDI infrastructure.

Support the technical infrastructure and implementation of our MAM both internally, and externally.

When required be lead for new projects including client facing roles, internal infrastructure/build outs.

Support the Head of Technology with devising group IT strategies.

Liaise with equipment vendors, research and provide recommendations on equipment selection.

Qualifications & requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Networking, Media Technology or similar engineering qualifications

Relevant experience in the field of IT and Broadcasting

Willing and able to be on the "on-call" rota

Resident in the UK

Essential Skills

Experience of Linux (Red hat / Centos) systems administration

Good understanding of designing and maintaining Microsoft AD domains

Fault-finding with mission critical systems

DNS & DHCP servers

Good working knowledge of TCPIP

Good knowledge of Samba

Good understanding of maintaining virtualised solutions (VMWare/HyperV)

Good understanding of cloud computing, including design and maintenance of such solutions

Good understanding of Microsoft domains and administering windows

Excellent understanding of digital video fundamentals and keen interest in media management

Create and maintain technical design documentation, and operational procedures

Knowledge of ITIL, problem management, change control & configuration management

Good understanding of visual acuity in design of cabling and equipment racks

Provide technical expertise and support for service management in the resolution of complex incidents and problems

Desirable skills

Understanding of MS SQL databases

Understanding of video streaming concepts

Experience with LTO backup systems

Experience and familiarity of many of the following media technologies:-Telestream - Vantage, Flip, Pipeline. Omneon Spectrum, Omnibus, DVS Venice/Clipster. Aspera/Signiant. Tedial/Cambridge Imaging/Levels Beyond. Swift/Mac Captions. Rhozet. FCP/AVID. Sony VTRs & Flexicarts. EMC/Pixit GPFS/NAS/SANs. Juniper Networks / Palo Alto FWs. LTO Robots e.g Spectralogic T950/Sony PetaSite/XenData
