About the role
Here at the Office for National Statistics (ONS) we provide the data that shapes our nation. A lot of our vital data stems from the census, which requires a response from every household in England and Wales every 10 years, for over 200 years. It provides population statistics that will be used for the next decade by planners, policy makers and researchers across the public and private sectors. Information that will help our nation make better decisions.
Our Census Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to make the best use of all available data and enhance the provision of population statistics. As Census Business Architect, you’ll shape the CTP by defining and documenting the business processes, information flows, product flows, quality requirements and system and service requirements that underpin its delivery. You’ll lead your team to ensure that the design of all census operations are coherent and result in quality statistics. Working closely with colleagues in the wider Enterprise Architecture team, you’ll align census business processes with other ONS statistical activities to maximise the potential for system and service reuse. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of the next census - something that will touch every single person in England and Wales.
About you
You see the bigger picture and understand exactly what we want to achieve here - you’re able to anticipate economic, social, political, environmental and technological developments and ensure the right response. Along with a recognised qualification in Business Analysis, you’ll have a proven track record working with complex systems on a vast scale, including business process modelling and requirements capture. An innovative and energetic leader with exceptional communication and collaboration skills, you encourage a culture of innovation, giving a clear sense of direction and purpose for yourself and the team. You will look at how things can be done better and more effectively, sharing ideas, developing models and identifying improvements to drive the strategy forward.
