The opportunity:

We have been experiencing a period of sustained growth across various market sectors, including cyber security, nuclear, defence, airports, water & industrial. We are primarily a projects based business, providing technical consultancy & solutions primarily to the UK market and are seeking the right individuals to join our growing team in Bristol, UK.

We require a Senior Technical Consultant based in our Bristol office to support the development and deployment of web, desktop and mobile software solutions.

The successful candidate will:

Act as team lead coordinating with the Project Manager or Technical Lead

Lead the specification, documentation and design of technical solutions

Support the Software Engineering Capability Lead to technically author bid responses and estimate effort required for delivery

Develop solutions through the application of formal design patterns, namely MVC and MVVM

Provide technical assistance and support to other developers within the project team

Perform and deliver allocated project tasks, to quality, time and budget requirements, as directed by Technical Lead

Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and with colleagues and clients

Demonstrate a strong work ethic and level of professionalism

Support the deployment of the solution, including preparation and delivery of analysis, demonstrations, workshops, training and documentation.

Candidates will ideally be degree qualified (min 2:1) or equivalent, and have previous work / placement experience in a technical or consulting environment.

The successful candidate will have:

Experience of developing .NET solutions in the Web and Windows domain

Solid development experience with a minimum of 3-4 years in C#, including C# 4.0

Experience of working on enterprise applications with distributed architectures

Experience of developing OO applications in .NET and Python

Solid SQL Server developer skills, ideally with SQL Server and PostgresSQL

Experience of working across the full software development lifecycle

Have excellent communication in the English language, both written and verbal, and with colleagues and clients

Be able to work effectively both individually, and as part of a team

Desirable attributes include:

Experience of ORM frameworks such as Telerik and Nhibernate;

Knowledge and application of client-side libraries and frameworks, such as jQuery and Bootstrap;

Experience of developing in WCF and WPF;

Have an understanding of emerging technologies and how they can be used to deliver next generation services and solutions;

Experience of developing applications in Microsoft’s Office;

Experience of low-level programming languages.

Additional information:

Some work outside normal office hours may be necessary.

Travel to and from client sites and/or temporary secondment to client’s offices may also be required. Secondments to other Communications offices in the UK or overseas may be available.
