About the role

Over recent years, we’ve made £multi-million investments to transform our IT operation beyond recognition. That’s no small task when you consider the incredible breadth of what we do. We’ve delivered powerful infrastructural changes including cloud-based data warehousing, a 1600 EPOS solution, a brand new management information reporting suite and a responsive website (visited by over 2 million people a month). And these are just some of the activities that now need to be built on with the next phase of our ambitious technology roadmap. The largest investment in IT to date, this journey of transformation will deliver phenomenal benefits and dramatically enhance how we connect people with our cause. Join us as Head of Operational Support and help us lay the foundations for an operational support structure that delivers these exciting changes.

Big changes here and an exciting challenge for your career. In this high profile role, you’ll be the driving force behind the delivery of our technology roadmap. How can we make sure our IT landscape is as joined-up, efficient and effective as possible across all of our special places? Which technology trends and innovations can we make the most of to enhance our IT operations, whilst keeping our charitable cause front of mind? You’ll show us, bringing inspirational expertise and innovation to the table. From implementing big, bold visionary ideas to directing transformative technical and architectural solutions, you’ll drive organisational change and deputise for the Technology & Information Security Director where necessary. A role model leader for the technology team and a valued voice across the Trust and people will look to you for technology expertise and innovative solutions. You’ll manage change brilliantly, establishing best practice, keeping communication levels high and making sure people feel as motivated and inspired as you do. And at the heart of everything you do will be a passion for our cause and a desire to make a positive difference through impactful technology.

About you

You’re an expert in your field, a lover of all things tech and a brilliant people manager. Someone ambitious and driven, who’s ready to step up to this rewarding career challenge. Coming to us with vast IT experience in a large, complex organisation, you’ll bring the following skills, knowledge and experience:

- An expert knowledge of enterprise technologies (including networks, hosting, cloud services, development, applications and data) - and how to design and deliver them.

- Outstanding leadership and people skills. You’ll be influential and confident inspiring a diverse team, building strong relationships and communicating effectively to non-technical colleagues.

- An impressive track record of delivering technical projects, including tracking, reporting and budget management, and a good understanding of ITIL processes and methodologies.

- A robust understanding of enterprise architecture and the layers it comprises, and experience of preparing technical architecture, solutions options and design documentation.

- The drive and impact to lead change throughout the organisation, managing conflicting demands and overcoming any challenges.
