We use high quality data to ensure doctors receive the best training, so that patients benefit from good quality, safe care. You will play a key role in managing that data.

The General Medical Council (GMC) helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.

Responsible for managing large data sets, you will plan and lead projects which maintain and improve the evidence we use to inform doctor training. As well as leading project teams to achieve every deadline, you’ll work closely with external organisations that supply information. Along the way, you may be required to travel to locations around the UK, with some overnight stays.

Cleaning and reporting on new data sets, you’ll actively improve both the quality of data and the processes we use for its storage and retrieval. Interrogating quantitative and qualitative information, you’ll identify risks, issues and new insights that will help to shape managerial decisions about medical education and training. As you publish reports, analysis and visualisations, you’ll enjoy opportunities to develop experience of Tableau data visualisation software and SQL.

To join us, you’ll need experience of planning and delivering projects involving cleaning and validating large data sets for analysis and reporting. Together with project management, your technical skills span MS Office - including advanced Excel functions and VBA - along with the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act and the application of statistical concepts. You’ll bring to the role a flexible approach, with a flair for developing innovative solutions and process improvements. Your ability to communicate and build relationships at all levels sets you apart.

In return, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. We offer an attractive salary and benefits package.
