At HMRC we make sure that money is available to fund the UK’s public services. Our ambitious £2billion+ transformation programme will enable us to do better than ever. The programme is creating a host of new approaches and opportunities, and within Data Platform - part of KAI (Knowledge, Analysis and Intelligence) Directorate - has opened up a number of roles at the cutting edge of Government’s Big Data ambition.

As Head of Master Data Management Team, you’ll play an instrumental part in our transformation from product to customer centricity, and enable us to precisely define, easily integrate and effectively retrieve data for all our sources. As part of this process, HMRC is looking to build an Enterprise Data Management capability into its business, which will include Master Data Management (MDM). In this role you will take ownership for that function - leading the team and implementing the capabilities that will make MDM a reality. This will include leading associated culture change, embedding best practice, providing centralised, expert advice and working with stakeholders right across the business. In addition to developing Data Mastering, the vacancy also offers unparralled opportunity to influence optimised data acquisition and maintain data quality.

This is a significant role at the heart of HMRC’s ambitious future. Subsequently you’ll need to have proven skills building and running professional MDM capability within a similarly complex organisation and at an enterprise level. A logical and mathematical thinker, you’ll have the ability to personally devise metrics and possess practical experience in industry standard MDM offerings. Alongside change management and relationship management skills, it would be advantageous if you also have knowledge and practical competence in Data Mining and Data Visual Techniques, and ITIL experience and/or qualifications.
