The Opportunity:

We are currently looking for a SQL Server DBA to be based in our central London office near Trafalgar Square. This is a great opportunity for a talented DBA to work in a fast paced and dynamic international environment, and join an organisation that's at the start of implementing its new global strategy - focusing on reaching the most deprived children globally.

In this role you will be responsible for database performance, back-ups and data security, overall operational quality, and be the SME/advisor to the wider development and infrastructure teams on all matters related to the SQL server. There is a large BI development in progress, built on the SQL server stack; this is run by the BI Architects, but you can expect to deputise for them on occasion - particularly in relation to operational issues.

To be successful you'll bring:

Significant experience of tuning and optimising high throughput workloads in an enterprise grade SQL server system running on SQL 2008 or later version

Excellent knowledge of backup and restore capabilities of SQL server

Strong knowledge of windows operating system and its relation to SQL server

Experience of communicating technical issues to a multi-cultural, multi-functional audience

Knowledge of how SQL server BI stack interacts with database engine instances using ETL

It would be highly desirable if you had knowledge of SQL Server BI and ETL processes (SSAS, SSRS, SSIS)

You'll also have exceptional planning and organisational skills, a proactive and collaborative approach, and strong cultural awareness.

The role offers a competitive package in the context of the sector.

The Organisation:

We employ approximately 17,000 people across the globe and work on the ground in over 60 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and protection. We also campaign and advocate at the highest levels to realise children's rights and ensure their voices are heard.

We are working towards 3 breakthroughs in how the world treats children by 2030:

* No child dies from preventable causes before their 5th birthday

* All children learn from a quality basic education and that,

* Violence against children is no longer tolerated

Application Information:

If you're interested in registering your interest, please apply using a cover letter and up-to-date CV as a single document. Please also include details of your current remuneration and salary expectations.

We need to keep children safe so our selection process reflects our commitment to the protection of children from abuse.
