About the Team

You`ll be joining a very new and exciting part of Telefonica. Have you heard of Smart Metering Implementation Plan (SMIP)? Well you`ll get the chance to support one of the largest smart metering projects in the world, providing communications services to the Public Sector!

Your Role

As Contract Manager (SMIP) you`ll own the day to day commercial relationship with our customer DCC and other ecosystem partners as well as our supply chain. You`ll be crucial to is to ensuring contract compliance, managing commercial risk and being the primary interface to resolve commercial issues. This role is a key position within the SMIP Programme Team with an influential position in achieving successful outcomes for Telefonica and the Programme as a whole.

Responsibilities:

Commercial management

-Based on detailed understanding of SMIP contract, work across the Smart Metering Ecosystem to influence successful delivery of the programme and achievement of Telefonica`s business plan

-Execute the commercial strategy as agreed with the Head of SMIP and the SMIP Commercial Lead

Identify commercial risks and opportunities and formulate options and action plans for taking things forward

Contract Change

-Manage and lead negotiation of contract changes, working closely with Delivery, Procurement, Finance and Legal to achieve commercially robust outcomes

Governance

-Represent Telefonica at SMIP external forums (e.g. Commercial & Finance Board)

-Represent the contractual view in internal governance forums such as the Change Control Board and the Service Management Board

-Ensure contractual and commercial considerations are made in all material programme decisions

-Ensure the SMIP Programme complies with relevant Telefoncia policies and makes decisions within delegated authority limits

-Play a key role in internal Governance reviews to ensure key stakeholders understand material issues

Contract Compliance and Risk Management

-Work closely with the SMIP Programme team to ensure Telefonica meets its obligations under the contract

-Work with DCC and other ecosystem partners to ensure dependencies are delivered

-Monitor any delays and take appropriate commercial action to protect Telefonica`s interests

-Work with suppliers to ensure subcontracts are delivered in line with contract, taking remediation action where necessary

-Commercial relationship management

- Within the strategy as agreed with the Head of SMIP and the SMIP Commercial Lead, liaise with SmartDCC, and commercial leads from the Comms Hub vendors leads to ensure relationships are maintained and critical dependencies are met

Skills and Experience:

-Contract Manager with substantial previous experience managing large, high value, complex contracts with difficult stakeholder relationships

-Negotiation skills with a proven track record of handling contract change to maintain and improve a business case, ideally gained in the public sector

-Experience of managing a contract in the implementation phase involving planning and project management of hardware and software delivery

-Natural communication skills, with ability to influence and win support at all levels

-Tenacious - able to overcome hurdles and drive projects to completion

-Highly motivated, ambitious and driven by success

-A team player and with the personal gravitas to become a driving force for contract management in an organisation where this capability is lacking in maturity

-Expertise in M2M technologies and customer solutions production would be useful though not essential
