Boasting a proud history as one of the country’s most successful further education establishments, The University of Manchester is once again making waves in the industry. That’s because the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering (MACE) is leading the way with an inspired teaching programme and cutting-edge research in international engineering, energy and climate change.

We’re now expanding our research portfolio and education programmes to meet an increasing demand for the application of project management principles in an engineering context, so there’s never been a more exciting time to join us as a Lecturer in Project Management (Teaching & Research) or a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Project Management (Teaching & Scholarship).

Working as part of the Management of Projects Research Group, you will deliver a range of fantastic courses to our Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Continuing Professional Development students. These dynamic programmes have a focus on teaching and assessment in the application of project management principles in relation to engineering, infrastructure, low carbon and renewable energy. Developing and delivering campus-based lectures and materials, you will flourish if you share our vision for working with other research establishments to further knowledge in this progressive field.

What will you bring to the team? Educated to doctorate level, you will have project management experience (gained in an engineering or built environment context) combined with a passion for lecturing in a university setting. You will also need impressive communication skills. For the Teaching & Research role, you will have a strong publication track record and be able to sustain research income generation. Likewise, for the Teaching & Scholarship role, your previous experience of procurement and commercial activities in engineering will set you apart from the crowd.

At MACE, we’re proud to say we value a diverse workforce, and we are committed to the Athena SWAN principles of gender equality and improving career progression for women working in science and engineering. The School holds a Bronze Award and as part of our commitment we have a number of initiatives to provide an excellent working environment in relation to gender and work-life balance, such as flexible-working arrangements and family friendly policies.
