Deliver insightful, accurate and replicable quantitative analysis and data modelling at the heart of a new specialist analytics team that will help to drive the way medical practice is regulated in the UK.

The General Medical Council (GMC) helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.

When it comes to establishing and assessing regulatory requirements for doctors, we collate and evaluate a range of data. This is crucial to modelling risk. Following the success of initial work in this field, we are establishing a new central analytics team.

Using MS Excel 2010 and a range of other data analysis software, you’ll derive valuable results from internal and external datasets. This will involve reviewing, coding and summarising datasets. Key aspects of your role will involve building quantitative data models and making inferences from them. We will look to you apply version and release control to both analysis programmes and results, using our own document management system. Along the way, you’ll liaise with a range of GMC staff, to ensure you can understand and fulfil their varied modelling and analysis needs.

To join us, you’ll need experience of analysing datasets of moderate size and complexity, using a package such as SPSS, Stata or R. You have the ability to model continuous and categorical data using methods including correlation analysis, linear regression and logistic regression. Your ability to build relationships and make presentations really sets you apart. Whether you are presenting to technical or non-technical audiences, you have a flair for explaining quantitative modelling and analysis methods concisely and clearly.

In return, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. We offer an attractive salary and benefits package.
