The General Medical Council (GMC) helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.
When it comes to establishing and assessing regulatory requirements for doctors, we collate and evaluate a range of data. This is crucial to modelling risk. Following the success of initial work in this field, we are establishing a new central analytics team. At this exciting time of change and evolution, you will help to shape the team, its work and its impact.
The analysis you contribute will make a real difference to our approach as a medical regulator. Your analysis could even have an impact on the wider health economy nationwide. We will look to you to review, interpret, code and summarise a range of internal and external qualitative data - from reports, to interview transcripts, to meeting notes. Yours will be a key voice in determining the end use of data. You’ll help to design and implement systems to help capture and code qualitative data, and develop business processes to make better use of it.
To be equal to the challenge, you’ll need proven experience of analysing complex qualitative information in a range of formats. You are familiar with qualitative analysis techniques and methods including thematic analysis, content analysis, data coding, interpretive analysis, interviewing and case studies. Ideally, your skills will also include sentiment analysis, structured search, text mining and text analytics. You’ll certainly have the ability to analyse data tables using Excel, Access, SQL or similar tools. Together with your flair for building professional relationships, your ability to present your analysis and findings to a variety of audiences really sets you apart.
In return, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. We offer an attractive salary and benefits package.
