Design the future of digital democracy.

The Parliamentary Digital Service is transforming the way Parliament does digital. We’re responsible for the entire digital strategy, including development of all parliamentary platforms from intranet services to a brand new website.

We’re now looking for a Head of User Research and Design to lead the design direction of our digital services and build a culture of user research across Parliament.

As Head of User Research and Design, you’ll lead a team of Designers, User Researchers and Performance Analysts in placing the user - whether that’s an MP or a member of the public - at the heart of digital design. You’ll be responsible for the design of high-profile products and services that sit at the heart of democracy; your creative, problem-solving, research and collaboration skills will ensure we develop excellent, user-friendly digital services for a modern Parliament.

In terms of leadership, you need a natural ability to influence and persuade, with experience in building a team from scratch. You’ll be confident in influencing people at all levels and have previously persuaded others that decisions should be based on user needs. From a design perspective, you’ll have demonstrable knowledge of user-centered design practices and a portfolio showing a strong understanding of graphic, service and interaction design principles.

We’re an open, transparent and collaborative team at the heart of Westminster. If you’d like to join us in developing a modern digital democracy, click the APPLY button.
