About Us:

The Zoological Society of London (ZSL), a charity founded in 1826, is a world-renowned centre of excellence for conservation science and applied conservation. ZSL’s mission is to promote and achieve the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. This is realised by carrying out field conservation and research in over 50 countries across the globe and through education and awareness-raising at our two zoos, ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, inspiring people to take conservation action.

Job Overview:

ZSL is seeking a Data Analyst and Protection Officer to develop our customer relationship management database to drive engagement with our supporters to help further our charitable mission. In this new and exciting role, the post holder will proactively track and identify opportunities to improve the use of data insight and ensure the entire supporter data held by the Society complies with all regulatory requirements. The post will also require the individual to use geo-socio demographic customer profiles to develop a greater understanding of customer groups (including ZSL visitors, Memberships, Fellowships, Wildlife Champions and Patronage programmes via ACORN and MOSAIC) supporting the development of robust performance measures to help us reach our ambitious goals.

The successful candidate will ideally have prior experience using statistical modelling techniques to drive insight from the data collected and a strong idea of how that data can be used to support decision making. They will have a conscientious and consistent approach to storing and documenting the data that the team and wider directorate require whilst ensuring compliance with UK Data Protection Act.

Person Specification:

Be educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or have prior relevant work experience in a related field.

Prior experience within a data analyst / protection role would be advantageous.

Good knowledge of direct and digital marketing and experience of working in the marketing sector.

In-depth knowledge and awareness of the UK Data Protection Act.

Independently driven and show initiative; with strong administrative skills

Able to demonstrate excellent inter-personal skills and have good time and organisational management skills.

Proven experience using a Customer Relationship Management System.

Be able to demonstrable high level of planning, prioritising and control and the ability to establish a systematic course of action to achieve objectives effectively and efficiently.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access and SQL querying for data import/export and data manipulation.

Excellent numerical and analytical skills ensuring the ability to analyse data.

Able to collate, analyse, interpret and present data accurately in an appropriate format and in a timely manner and appreciates the need to monitor and control outputs.

N.B: A high degree of flexibility is essential in situations where planned tasks are superseded by unscheduled events that require priority.

This is a fantastic position for an individual looking for employment in an international organisation. You will have exposure to a variety of departments. If you have the imagination to not only problem solve but to create new opportunities to support the Development department within ZSL, then we would love to hear from you.
