DIO is part of the Ministry of Defence (MOD). The Chief Information Officer (CIO) area within DIO Head Office is responsible for the delivery, management and assurance of all Information Technology (IT)/Information Systems (IS) strategies, policies, standards and services that are applicable to the DIO. CIO has four key pillars; Customer Service and Requirements Team, Design and Transition Team, Delivery and Operations Team and The Information Security and Assurance Team.

The Application Support Team Leader is based within the Delivery and Operations Team, the main duties of the role include:

- Manage the team in order to deliver DIO outputs

- Provide leadership for the 2nd Line support team.

- Develop team members and assist line managers in delivering departmental goals

- Promote strong working relationships both within the team and with other teams across DIO and Ministry of Defence (MoD)

- Manage and co-ordinate resources to deliver and maintain all application components, specifically DIO IMS (Infrastructure Management System), of the DIO Technical Environments including closure or escalation of calls as appropriate.

- Conduct regular internal service reviews and lead on continuous service improvement and problem management.

- Liaising with Resolver Groups to ensure updates on status/progress are recorded against the Incident and to ensure resolution within related Service Levels wherever possible

- Managing closure or escalation of calls as appropriate.

- Responsible the review and analysis of incidents to identify recurring issues and update Problem Management and Knowledge Base.

- Responsible for the update of the Incident Management System status and providing updates to end-users throughout Change and Release activities.

- Responsible for ensuring all application incidents are resolved within target timescales

- Responsible for ensuring all upgrades and patching are planned to minimise disruption to service inclusive of IMS software upgrade and patches to live environment.

- Responsible for managing all changes through DIO Technical Environments. Ensuring design documentation and test scripts are completed before release to live environment.

- Responsible for implementation of IMS Software Releases to live environment.

- Responsible for the configuration management of IMS software.

- Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the IMS Software

It is desirable that candidates have experience of WebSphere, Java analytics, SQL programming and are able to demonstrate this within their application.
