The Architect will work within the I&T Architecture function within RPA, reporting to the Principal Technology Architect. The Technology Architecture function is a key component of the Agency’s Enterprise Architecture capability and will:

- Set technical policy and technical standards.

- Specify and recommend infrastructure and platform tools and technologies.

- Create and maintain an Approved Products List for the technical infrastructure.

- Create a technical infrastructure framework to support the business and information system needs of the RPA.

- Enforce the principles of good technical design.

- Identify and enforce opportunities to provide technology reuse.

- Ensure the preservation of strategic technology and technical infrastructure assets.

- Review the work of Project Technical Architects.

As the Post Holder you will:

- Undertake development of the assets for the technology architecture.

- Help ensure that the assets of the technology architecture are agreed and approved by the RPA EA governance mechanisms.

- Provide application and technology architecture expertise to the rest of the organisation.

- Collaborate with technical subject-matter experts on service-orientated architecture. (SOA) in the design of technical solutions for shared services.

- Collaborate with business, information and application architects to understand the changes to the technology architecture by identifying business, information and application trends, and their technology impacts.

- Continually review the IT software and hardware infrastructure to ensure it is all in support and operating at the most effective level. Recommend changes to the infrastructure where necessary.

You should have relevant technical experience of the types of products being used (see person specification)

You should have relevant technical experience of the types of products being used; Cloud computing, Server virtualisation (Hyper-V technology) clustering and Disaster Recovery.

- Experience in the Microsoft application suites and products;

- Share Point 2010 / 2013 solutions

- SQL

- Exchange 2013

- MS Lync

- BizTalk

- Active Directory

- Net Apps / Team Foundation
