We are looking for a Cloud Architect to join our Cloud Competency Centre within Development responsible for creating and maintaining the long term Cloud Infrastructure Architecture for Sainsbury’s. You will liaise with and ensure the stakeholders responsible for and impacted by the Cloud Infrastructure Architecture outputs are fully engaged and bought into the future strategies.

As a Cloud Architect you will:

- Maintain enterprise level As-Is and Target Cloud Infrastructure architectures.

- Support and take responsibility for Cloud Infrastructure Service Architecture.

- Support and ensure close adherence to the Sainsbury’s Architecture, Data & Strategy Team in developing and communicating an IT Strategy and Sainsbury’s D&T Roadmap.

- Be a recognised Cloud Infrastructure Architect.

- Key responsibilities include:

- developing and maintaining the relevant parts of the Cloud Infrastructure Architecture and associated principles and standards;

- developing policies, patterns, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of technology for Cloud Infrastructure;

- co-ordinating the identification and assessment of new and emerging technologies.

- Support other Architects in developing and communicating the Cloud Infrastructure Architecture.

- Drive the adoption of the Cloud Infrastructure architectural principles, patterns and standards across the D&T Division and the Business.

- Works with:

- the Cloud Competency Centre Manager;

- the Cloud Competency Centre Architects and Designers;

- and the Sainsburys D&T Architects and Technical Designers.

- Act as the escalation route for delivery teams to help resolve design issues.

- Work with external suppliers to ensure that the appropriate technology direction is set with respect to systems, data and technical infrastructure.

- Work with other parts of the D&T Division to ensure the agreement and adoption of IT Standards, Patterns and Policies in line with the Cloud Infrastructure Service Roadmap.

- Take lead on keeping data in System Architect up to date.

- Work with Principal/Senior Architects to ensure simplification of our Cloud Infrastructure Service architecture.

To be a successful Cloud Architect you will need to:

- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the main technology base, and a general understanding of the other technology bases which together form the overall technical direction for Public and Private Cloud.

- Keep abreast with developments in the IT industry and retail market space to ensure that the architectures are kept in line with industry standards and only deviate for commercial benefit.

- Have a proven track record as a recognised domain architect on major public cloud programs of work.

- Have demonstrable experience of delivering IT systems in both traditional Waterfall and Agile environments.

- Have demonstrable experience in IT Industry standards, services, design, architecture principles design, architecture views and viewpoint design, building block design, solutions modelling and systems behaviour.

- Have demonstrable experience of IT Architecture including the development (and ensuring adherence to) Architecture principles and standards.

- Have recognised Professional Certification such as Cloud Architect (AWS, Azure, VMware) BCS or IEE certification and Architectural recognition from an external body such as TOGAF or the BCS is preferred though not mandatory.

- Have architectural experience of:

- highly secure and compliant systems:

- PCI DSS compliance;

- OWASP security principles;

- and desirable to have knowledge and experience of designing solutions for ISO27001 organisations;

- service orientated architecture;

- disaster recovery for cloud;

- disasters inside the Cloud;

- disasters of the Cloud or Cloud provider;

- knowledge and experience of:

- open source and CoTS tooling in the Cloud;

- configuration management automation tooling (CAPS);

- and continuous integration and deployment tooling and processes.

- Have proven ability to deliver flexible, reliable, supportable, cost effective (packaged and bespoke) IT solutions.

- Have demonstrable knowledge of the IT and retail marketplace & trends is desirable.

- Have proficiency in methods and techniques for structured reviews, including reviews of non-functional requirements, technical documents, test plans, business cases and other key deliverables.
