We are looking for a Development Test Manager to engage with large scale development teams and implement industry leading automated testing practices across a wide range of products. You will be expected to recruit and retain expert colleagues as well as driving Sainsbury’s development testing strategy forward continually improving to create a world class Development Testing function.

As a Development Test Manager you will need to and will succeed by:

- Leading a team of Development Test Leads and have line management responsibility for a team of specialist Development Testers.

- Having full responsibility for defining the Development testing strategy and ensuring compliance across the entire Development function.

- Utilising your own experience and judgement to ensure testing strategy meets business needs.

- Shaping a world class development function utilising cutting edge processes and technologies for code led testing.

- Educating the business about how we increase pace and at the same time improve quality using industry best practices.

- Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders (SM & Directors) inside the business, both within D&T and other divisions to create confidence in the Development Test function.

- Using influence to both create change and educate at all levels within the business.

- Being a strong positive external figure for Sainsbury’s, leading the way in Development test innovation.

- Recruiting colleagues who are both exceptionally talented and fit the culture of the team.

- Retaining colleagues by creating the right environment and ways of working.

- Ensuring projects are resourced appropriately to meet the project needs.

- Influencing, implementing and refining Agile and Lean principles to align with code led testing principles.

- Setting standards and improving our KPIs, metrics and reporting to key senior stakeholders.

- Ensuring progress and blockers are visible at all levels.

To be a successful Development Test Manager you will need to know and show:

- Software development process management.

- Detailed understanding of a multitude of technologies and principles for automation and code led testing like TDD and BDD.

- Practical experience of a multitude of technologies and processes through extensive industry experience or computer science qualifications (masters or PHD level).

- A very strong understanding of Agile and Lean principles including Agile certifications (e.g. scrum certification).

- Demonstrable experience of techniques to educate and lead transformation within large organisations.

- Experience leading and mentoring colleagues of different skill levels.

- How to recruit expert colleagues.
