Our Change department within New Business in Nottingham is looking for a SMART Meter Asset Team.

Smart meters provide us with more data than ever before about how our customers use energy in their home or business. Being able to respond to this information better will help us be more compliant with regulation, more agile and more effective. Most importantly of all, it will help us to deliver an even better service to our customers. That’s why we’re establishing a new team within the Smart Hub called Smart Asset Operations - to make the very best use of the new information we’re receiving.

Join this key team as it launches, and you’ll have lots of opportunity for development. These roles will give you the ability to influence and shape the customer experience - identifying and solving problems before the customer has even realised something’s wrong. With the number of new Smart meters being installed all across the country, this is a real growth area for us, and what you do here could have a big impact on our business and your career.

Job Purpose

Smart meters provide us with more information than ever before about how our customers use energy and what is happening to the meter in their home or business. Being able to respond to this information in the appropriate way will help us to provide excellent customer service and to operate in a compliant, effective and agile way. This is why we are establishing a new team within the Smart Hub called Smart Asset Operations to handle the information that we get from smart meters.

Main Responsibilities

-Asset Operations Monitoring

-Manage a team responsible for monitoring and achieving optimal performance from the end-to-end smart metering solution. Activities include:

-Perform end-to-end smart metering solution monitoring by reviewing system availability, events and alerts etc. to detect first level anomalies and immediate response flags

-Enrich smart metering information with performance insights (experience), planned outages, weather etc. to assist with data interrogation

-Perform trend analysis to identify behaviours or deteriorating performance and conduct root cause analysis to support remedial actions

-Accurately trigger the necessary operational response in line with policies and procedures to maintain performance

work with the wider Smart Hub team and the operational business to ensure optimal end -to-end solution performance as well as supporting operational targets

-Ensuring all my actions and behaviours treat our customers fairly and comply with regulations.

Qualifications

Essential Skills Requirements

-The ability to learn fast, and be able to develop and enhance complex processes effectively

-Experience of leading (and working within) cross functional and cross business unit teams and project groups

-Strong management and supervisory skills, including a flair for consensus building and delivering influential communications

-Strong operational and commercial awareness skills

-Strong adherence to industry compliance requirements, coupled with a passion for delivering the best in customer service

Desirable Skills Requirements

-Experience of remote management upgrades would be very useful

-A metering, IT or networking background could all be useful in these roles

-Experience of setting up new teams

The Asset Operations team will be responsible for every aspect of the day-to- day management of data from Smart meters. Whether it’s ensuring that the settings on the meters are at the right level, delivering upgrades and updates or solving glitches before they’re even noticed, the team will be invaluable.
