Role overview:

The role will be responsible for leading a team of testers to provide a first class service to the project management office. You will take ownership of all testing activities on one or more project work streams. The successful candidate will be fully prepared to roll their sleeves up and get involved to support with test analyst duties when required i.e. test scripting, executing and preparing test data. You will oversee the workload of the team(s) and motivate the analysts to deliver business requirements when needed.

Areas of specific responsibility:

Highly competent in producing test documentation such as Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Approaches, Test Schedules, Test Project Plans, Test Specification, Test Exit Reports.

Representing the test team in project/planning meetings and daily standups. (Agile and waterfall methodologies).

Maintaining effective stakeholder relationships (internal and external).

Liaising with 3rd party developers, and external regulatory bodies representing testing for First utility.

Defect management across multiple work streams.

Coordinating and scheduling releases from 3rd party suppliers

Producing test reports for internal and external submissions.

Leading a test team to meet testing delivery dates in line with project plans.

Estimating test efforts, monitoring and evolving best test practices.

Coordinating all test activities within a project team whilst managing expectations with stakeholders.

The desirable candidate:

Experience of leading test teams on projects with external governance.

Proven and demonstrable experience of leading test teams in an Agile and waterfall environments.

Knowledge of V-model techniques.

In-depth understanding of System, System Integration, UAT, BAU and Non Functional testing practices.

Deep understanding of the Utilities industry.

A can do attitude who is prepared to lead the team and test to help the team succeed.

Experience of stakeholder engagement.

Strong leadership skills.

Ability to escalate issues at the appropriate time.

ISTQB certified to intermediate level.

Prince 2 foundation or practitioner.

Ability to report progress timely and efficiently with accompanying burn down charts.
