The company is internationally recognised for its specialist conservation, restoration and mount making skills.

Overview:

Plowden & Smith is looking for an experienced Project Manager who will take on the management of key client projects with the goal of delivering every project on time, within budget and scope.

The projects include large conservation projects, object mounting and installation projects as well as large, multi-object restoration projects. They may be carried out at our London workshop or on a client’s site (within the UK or internationally). The jobholder will also play a key role in the tender process to win large projects.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects

Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

Ensure resource availability and allocation

Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress

Produce appropriate Risk Assessment and Method Statement documentation and administer their compliance

Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques

Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques

Report and escalate to management as needed

Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders

Perform risk management to minimize project risks

Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors

Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

Assist in completing tenders for new projects

Prepare monthly report on all projects for management meetings

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

Degree or similar qualification preferably in the fields of fine arts or conservation (E).

Skills:

A high level of accuracy and attention to detail (E)

Excellent communication skills, specifically written English (E)

Solid organisational skills including multi-tasking skills (D)

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines (E)

Ability to problem solve (E)

Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills (E)

Excellent IT skills including MS Office and Project Management software (E)

Work Experience:

Proven working experience in project management in the above sector (E)

Solid technical project management background (E)

Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills (D)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (D)

Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills (D)

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PMP / PRINCE II certification is a plus. (E)

Experience in the tender process (D)

Availability to work away from London office for significant periods of time if the project requires it (E)

Previous track record in a project management role (E)
