We’re looking for an analytical individual with advanced knowledge of data modelling, design and management to join us as Data Manager and take the lead in changing our organisational approach to data.

This brand new role is part of Shelter’s Technology Change team. A mix of business analysts, project managers and developer analysts, we oversee the implementation of Shelter’s Technology strategy. We also work closely with Supporter, Client and Retail divisions and the IT Operations and Online teams to ensure the organisation’s IT operations run smoothly. Your challenge? To enable Shelter to take maximum advantage of the data that sits within our various divisions and ensure we appropriately safeguard the personal data of those who support us and those we help.

Your key responsibilities:

- Acting as a strategic business partner for Shelter’s Technology Change team

- Leading the design and implementation of a cross-divisional data strategy that will enable us to achieve our overall organisational strategy and gain maximum benefit from data

- Working with a Data Protection Officer to champion best practice in data management, governance and quality and make sure we have appropriate safeguards in place

- Driving the implementation of a data governance framework and overseeing the education of the organisation in data management concepts, the appropriate usage of data etc.

And what you’ll need:

- A proven relevant track record that has given you a good understanding of the key principles of good data management, including analytics, data modeling and database design

- Extensive experience of strategic planning, project management and influencing at a senior level in a customer-focused environment

- A flair for analysing and interpreting complex information and producing it in a clear and concise format

- Strong communication and relationship building skills, a proactive, results-driven and collaborative approach and a willingness to challenge the status quo and come up with new ideas and approaches
