About the team

We need a UX Manager who has the desire and willingness to help us deliver creative design thinking. The successful candidate will demonstrate an unrivalled passion to improving online experience for our members, and have a solid understanding of what makes a good website. It`s not just the creative side either - the candidate will need to spend time researching ideas, web analytics, listening to members and crafting solutions with stakeholders. If we need to spend 100 hours improving our online joining experience by 1% - that`s what we will do!

Your role

The candidate will need to always be positive, and helping the wider UX team deal with ongoing priority battles and workload. It`s often a frantic pace here at giffgaff, particularly within the UX Team, so keeping a cool head is super important.

There is an incredible upside to this role - you will be able to work with a hugely talented UX and Ecommerce Team. The giffgaff UX Team is highly regarded within giffgaff, and many of our recent website improvements have been sparked by their ideas. Working with such a talented team, the plan for this role is to mould the next top-talent individual, capable of delivering improvements to our website and to our members. Being an online-only business, UX is a hugely important area!

Working in an agile environment, UX is a support function to our development delivery teams, you will work closely with the product teams that span the business, and help them deliver their prioritised projects. Associating value to our projects is an ongoing challenge, and you will play a role in helping to determine which is going to be more impactful.

The UX Manager at giffgaff will report directly to the Head of UX, and work alongside 3x other experienced UX Architects. The UX function sits within the Ecommerce Team.

Responsibilities

Start with Why. Truly understanding the reasons why we are doing what we are doing. Break down the fundamental reasons and make the thing work better.You will work with our creative design team to translate UX concepts to create creative mockups which are ready for development & codeYou will be comfortable taking to a whiteboard or a post-it note to sketch your thinking, or even just to understand what it is someone needs.Be familiar and comfortable navigating and creating site mapsYou`ll craft features and principles that will be applied modularly to the entire site.Help maintain UX guidelines, standards, and processes for user-centric productsYou will work with product owners, stakeholders and users to understand how people use our product and use this information to define design principlesExperience with responsive design, and `mobile 1st` thinking

Demonstrable Experience

Previous experience must have`s:

Qualifications within an online, UX or creative skillsetComfortable working with other giffgaffers to gather stakeholder requirements and define functionalityExpert in information design and be able to clearly express complex informationMapping user journeys, concepts, in addition to producing wireframes.Create and maintain UX guidelines, standards, and development processes for user-centric productsUnderstand website content to a basic degree, to understand what type of copy is required in which areaCreating site maps and content categorizationConfident with an excellent eye for design and attention to detail.Understand the rendering capabilities of the platform you are designing for (responsive web, ios, android)Experience with design tools such as OmniGraffle, Photoshop, Axure, Balsamiq, Adobe suite etc.
