Our client is an established software as a service (SaaS) solution to the education sector. They are now seeking a developer with some commercial experience with ASP.Net MVC using C# plus a good understanding of relational databases (T-SQL, stored procedures, views, etc). Previous exposure to web-based testing tools such as JMeter and Selenium (or Phanton.js/Caspar) would be advantageous, as would experience working with javascript/jquery.

The initial role will focus on feature development and product customisation, as well as increasing the quality of the flagship SaaS system through the use of automated testing. This will involve working with developers, testers, directors and clients, so excellent communication skills are essential. We’re looking for an enthusiastic self-starter willing to take full ownership of the role and quickly become a key part of their small team. Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and take ownership/leadership of performance testing

- Develop integration tests to prove software quality

- Develop a methodology for testing our UI via Selenium or similar

- Manage the workflow of configuration requests from clients, using Trello

- Liaise with clients to clarify their requirements and manage their expectations

- Implement configuration changes in development, test and production

- Take user stories from idea to implementation and lead on specific development tasks.

- Size development activities

- Develop components using the MVC architectural pattern.

- Work efficiently in a continuous integration environment.

- Share the management of the Zendesk service desk with the rest of the team.

- Apply rigor to the recording of changes, especially those that clients are directly requesting.

- Contribute ideas to the continual development of products and services.

- Once established, contribute to client ‘keep in touch’ meetings

Essential Experience:

- Microsoft technologies - C#, .NET

- Relational databases: Microsoft SQL Server 2012, relational database analysis and design; T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers and views.

- Proven ability in OO design.

- Experience of planning and designing software features.

- Experience working on a software project as part of a team.

- Basic (or not so basic) HTML skills.

- Some experience in a testing environment

- Evidence of relevant computing science qualification, coursework, side projects or placements undertaken.

Desirable Experience: (but not essential)

- Web development: ASP.net MVC experience would be useful but not essential, as would any exposure to any modern web application framework (PHP, RoR or Django for instance).

- Web services: any experience creating and/or consuming RESTful or SOAP services

- Mobile content: any experience creating mobile web applications would be useful.

- Database design: experience of logical and physical database design.

- Source control software: experience of any code management

You will be working within a small team, sometimes working on your own and must have an agile, positive attitude. The successful candidate must be prepared to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.?
