The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen working in the Business Change Team (BCT) within the SRA. The BCT is a central point of contact for all IT change and business improvement work across the organisation. We run projects and programmes and advise the business on how best to use our resources to meet the SRA’s strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.

At a time when the SRA is in the process of launching an IT Transformation Programme, the role is a challenging one, but extremely varied. You could be managing a high-profile IT project, facilitating workshops, providing expertise on the planning process or project management more broadly. The type of projects we manage and support across the SRA include IT, policy or other areas of business change.

As a Project Manager, you will support stakeholders by identifying key deliverables, managing risks effectively and controlling projects so that they are delivered successfully. In addition you will be providing a supportive and mentoring role to others in the team.

You will need to be a confident and assertive communicator and have experience of dealing with staff at all levels across the organisation. An organised and diplomatic approach is essential, sometimes in challenging situations.

What we are looking for:

- Delivery of a range of different types of projects, including IT projects, to time, cost, quality and scope

- Identify dependencies, assumptions and actively manage risks and issues

- Identify key stakeholders and develop relationships across the organisation

- Providing leadership to project teams and other stakeholders

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

- PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification or equivalent experience in a PRINCE2 environment

- Strong project management skills including dealing with several projects and stakeholders with competing deadlines and priorities

- Proficient Microsoft Office skills including Project and PowerPoint

- Proven experience in leading IT projects, managing suppliers and project teams

- Outstanding communication skills including clear and concise writing skills, active listening skills and strong verbal skills

- Ability to influence and negotiate and create buy-in at all levels

- Experience of preparing materials for and facilitating workshops across business units and project work-streams

- Experience of creating and managing project plans escalating deviations to senior stakeholders as appropriate

- Ability to manage project risks, issues and dependencies proactively and effectively

- Ability to develop a team approach and provide clear direction to a group or individuals to achieve the objectives of the project

- Pre-emptive and solution-oriented

Desirable

- Understanding of how to work with different parts of the business and how to manage their priorities and competing interests

- Experience of supplier/product selection, contract negotiation and award, managing supplier delivery and performance, reviewing and authorising invoices

The SRA is the independent regulator of solicitors and law firms in England and Wales, protecting consumers and supporting the rule of law and the administration of justice. We do this by overseeing all education and training requirements necessary to practise as a solicitor, licensing individuals and firms to practise, setting the standards of the profession and regulating and enforcing compliance against these standards.
