IDC’s European Personal Computing group in London has a vacancy for a Research Analyst and is looking for an enthusiast and committed candidate to contribute to its quarterly and annual Personal Computing Device research programme.

The successful applicants will demonstrate the following:

- Graduate level with economic or business background and at least one year’s experience in computer-related market research, consulting, or product marketing

- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analysis skills

- Well organised and an ability to work to tough deadlines

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with clients

- Desire for individual contribution to our research and business

- Ability to manage several projects at the same time

- Key interest and enthusiasm for PC and Tablet related technology markets

- Knowledge of the IT industry and European markets a key advantage

- English language is required but another European language (French, German, Italian or Spanish) are an advantage

Main duties:

- Analyse PC and Tablet market dynamics in Western Europe on a quarterly and annual basis

- Develop in-depth knowledge of key European geographies and supplier strategies (product strategies, technology developments, pricing and channel strategies) through primary and secondary research

- Collect and analyse vendor shipment data

- Interface with key industry players

- Produce quality market assessment and market forecasts

- Write quarterly market updates and market insights

- Engage market trends (clients, press)

- Become a key analyst interface for our European-wide clients

- Work closely with the other analysts in the group in EMEA and WW

The role is UK-based but may involve some foreign travel.
