About the role

Over recent years, we’ve made £multi-million investments to transform our IT operation beyond recognition. That’s no small task when you consider the incredible breadth of what we do. The largest investment in IT to date, this journey of transformation will deliver phenomenal benefits and dramatically enhance how we connect people with our cause. We’ve just put a brand new 10 year IT strategy in place that’s aligned with our business goals - a strategy which will bring big changes as well as one huge opportunity for your career.

In this high profile role as Head of IT Projects, you’ll oversee the delivery of our IT programmes and projects across the National Trust. Always looking for more innovative ways to deliver projects you’ll look at and understand what needs to happen - and you’ll know exactly what to do to get it done to the highest standard. We’d also like you to take ownership of projects from time to time, seeing them through from concept to delivery. Working with colleagues across the Trust at all levels, as well as external stakeholders, you’ll ensure every project’s progress is transparent to everyone involved and have solutions to tackle any challenges that may arise. Looking to the future and our strategy going forward, you’ll ensure that we develop and improve our transformational capabilities further. An inspirational leader, you’ll manage your team, develop professional standards and help them thrive in their career - as well as making sure they feel as motivated as you do when it comes to our IT projects.

This is an interesting opportunity to make your mark, deliver results and drive positive change across the Trust. And at the heart of everything you do will be a passion for our cause and a desire to make a difference through impactful technology.

About you

You’re an IT expert as well as a brilliant people manager. Someone ambitious and driven, who’s ready to step up to this rewarding career challenge. To succeed, you’ll need the following skills, knowledge and experience:

- An in-depth understanding of project and programme management processes, practices and lifecycles - including Agile and Waterfall.

- Outstanding leadership, people and communication skills. You’ll be influential and confident, inspiring a diverse team, building strong relationships and communicating technical information effectively to non-technical colleagues.

- An impressive track record delivering technical projects, including budget management, and a good understanding of ITIL processes and methodologies.

- An excellent understanding of matrix management of resources.

- An innovative approach to working and the ability to hit the ground running.

- The ability to challenge the status quo and bring your own ideas to the table.
