The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) is responsible for distributing around £4 billion a year for teaching and research in universities and colleges in England.
The four UK higher education funding bodies undertake periodic assessments of research quality to inform their funding allocations and to provide quality assurance as to how these funds are spent. REF2014 was the fifth national exercise in broadly its present form. The next national assessment exercise is planned to take place in 2021. Outcomes of REF2021 will drive the allocation of the funding bodies` grant for research over at least 5 years.
You will lead the development and delivery of REF2021. Building on the evaluation of REF2014, and independent reviews carried out by Professor James Wilsdon and Lord Stern, you will respond to a soon-to-be-issued consultation on REF2021 and shape the guidance for the exercise. You will recruit and manage the REF team, and lead delivery of the exercise, working with the four funding bodies and the expert panels. You will ensure that the results of REF2021 are robust and command the confidence of the sector.
Benefits include a comprehensive staff development programme, 25 days` annual leave, and the opportunity to join the Civil Service Pension scheme. For further information and to apply (CVs will not be accepted) please visit our website by clicking the APPLY button.
