A robust and modern IT infrastructure is critical to the success of the University. The IT Services department supports a range of mission-critical services and systems and state of the art technical infrastructure that facilitates all aspects of teaching, learning, research and the day-to-day running of a large organisation. The University’s distributed computing facilities provide approximately 5,000 PCs running circa 550 applications, with over 400 physical and virtual servers on the University network which is used by more than 25,000 students and 2,000 staff. The underlying infrastructure is based on the latest Windows Server and Red Hat Linux systems, running current versions of enterprise-class applications, such as Oracle E-Business Suite and Microsoft Dynamics.

You will work in a small group that is responsible for the delivery of concurrent IT projects in support of the University’s Project Portfolio. You will be involved in the testing phases of all software development projects that require software assurance. In conjunction with the project and operational teams, you will carry out structured tests and produce appropriate records of their work in accordance with the selected project methodology. You will also be involved in the testing of upgrades to the University’s corporate systems, and will assist the Senior Test Engineer in the development of collateral to support future testing (e.g. standardised test plans and scripts, automation and regression testing tools).

Working within IT Services you will support the continuous improvement of the testing service, embedding ‘best practice’. You will have experience in working with enterprise-level testing software and be able to provide support for such tools.
