We are looking for a Configuration Manager to work within a large logistics organisation. The position will take full sole accountability for the configuration management of a complex and large scale transformation programme.

About the role

You will have experience of owning the end-to-end configuration management processes for highly visible strategic transformation programmes, supporting cross functional teams in excess of 150 heads.

The specific responsibilities of the Configuration Manager (CM) will include:

- Accountable for CM of developmental and operational systems

- Accountable for the change control process and any required improvements

- Accountable for the Quality management process and any required improvements

- Directs the creation and maintenance of document configuration baselines whether for software, hardware or processes (development, test, production, etc.)

- Develops or modifies CM plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system

- Implements CM discipline for the entire life cycle of the Programme from initial requirements/capabilities baselines to system or business process and change end-of-life

- Regulates the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related software, licenses, media, and other IT assets

- Ensures that all changes to the baselines go through appropriate change boards

- Tracks all problems and changes in product documents/software and reports changes, controls standard operating procedures and current configurations

- Owns the formal SharePoint (document repository) site including setup, administration and maintenance.

- Audits and enforces the correct implementation of CM policies and procedures

- Ensures that the appropriate review, approval and version control procedures are adopted for each configuration item whether software, hardware or a document

About You

You’ll have a proven history within configuration management for complex large scale programmes with budgets in excess of £10m, alongside end-to-end configuration management from setup to closure of at least two programmes in excess of 18 months duration.

Utilising your associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, from an accredited institute in an area applicable to this position (e.g. information technology, information systems, computer science, computer engineering), you’ll be proficient with SharePoint including setup and administration in addition to being experienced in operating, installing, or maintaining information technology configuration management.

The role is an initial 24 month fixed term contract but carries a fantastic opportunity to potentially become a permanent member of staff.
